It is the code date we use to identify the plant that produced the product, the expiration date of the product, and the production line and time. This information helps us for traceability purposes.

We have one product containing Milk ingredients: Mission Extreme Cheese Tortilla Triangles.
Which products contain soy ingredients?
The following three products contain Soy ingredients: Mission Garden Spinach & Herb Wraps, Mission Hi-Fibre Tortillas and Mission Multi-grain Tortillas.
Are Mission Foods products gluten free?
The following four products are Gluten Free: Mission Regular Taco Shells, Mission Jumbo Taco Shells, Mission White Corn Tortilla Strips and Mission White Corn Tortillas.
Which Mission products contain Gluten?
The following all contain Gluten (wheat): All Mission Tortillas (except Corn), Mission Wraps, Mission Pita Breads, Mission Lebanese Breads, Mission Taco Seasoning Mix, Mission Taco Dinner Kit, Mission Burrito Dinner Kit, Mission Soft Taco Dinner Kit.
Is there any wheat, rye, barley, or oats in corn tortillas?
No. Mission corn tortillas do not contain wheat, rye, barley, or oat ingredients.
Are wheat flour tortillas produced in the same lines as corn products?
No, our corn production lines are dedicated to corn products only. Wheat Flour tortillas are produced in dedicated lines.
Is wheat used in any way to make the corn products?
There are no wheat ingredients or incidental wheat present in the products or on the lines that produce corn products.
Is there a potential for cross-contamination of corn products with wheat ingredients?
All Mission Foods plants have strict food safety programs in place, including a very comprehensive Allergen Control Program.

Does Mission Foods use Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in their products?
No, there is no MSG in any Mission products except the Mission Extreme Cheese Tortilla Triangles. You may find the detail ingredients by product in the Nutrition Information page.
Do any of Mission Foods products contain ingredients from animal sources?
No Mission products contain ingredients from animal sources.
What is the source of mono- and diglycerides listed on the ingredients of flour tortillas?
They are vegetable based.
Why does Mission Foods use preservatives?
Preservatives help protect the flavor and the freshness of our products. We use only the minimum amount of preservatives necessary to provide the product its shelf life.
Does Mission Foods use partially hydrogenated oils?
No, we discontinued the use of partially hydrogenated oils.

Packaging
Are Mission Foods plastic bags recyclable?
The whole laminate can be downcycled into comingled plastic suitable for park benches, pallets, posts, and other low-grade applications.
How do I open the brown bag Mission tortilla chips?
Cut along the dotted line with scissors. Open top carefully. When done, fold the bag a few times and use a chip clip to keep bag sealed tightly.

What is the difference between a wrap and a flour tortilla?
Wraps are a sandwich with a twist; they are larger then a regular tortilla and come in a variety of flavors. Good for appetizers and party snacks.
What is the difference between a burrito, soft taco, and fajita size tortilla?
The difference is only in the diameter. A burrito is approximately 8” – 10” and a soft taco is about 6”.
What are the sizes available in corn tortillas?
The typical corn tortilla size available in all markets is 6” diameter.

What is the shelf life of Mission Products?
The shelf life of our Mission products varies depending on their formulation and storage conditions. Following is the typical shelf life of Mission products stored at ambient temperature (unopened package): Flour tortillas: 9 months; Corn tortilla: 3 months; Burrito tortilla: 30 days; Whole wheat tortilla: 30 days; Wraps: 30 days; Taco shells: 9 months; Dinner kits: 9 months; Taco seasoning mix: 12 months; Pita bread: 30 days; Lebanese bread: 30 days.
How long can tortillas be kept at ambient temperature after I buy them?
The tortillas can be left at ambient temperature and should be good until the date printed on the package.
I bought a package of tortillas and they were not refrigerated at the store. Should I refrigerate them at home?
Not necessarily. The tortillas will last at ambient temperature until the date printed on the package. If they are placed in the refrigerator until they are ready to be used, they will last longer. The shelf life in the refrigerator varies depending on the conditions the product was stored prior to placing them in a refrigerated container.
I bought a package of tortillas and they were in the refrigerated section at the store. Should I refrigerate them at home?
Yes. If the product was in the refrigerated section at the store, they have a refrigerated code date printed on the package. If the product is not kept in the refrigerator after purchase, it may grow mold before its expiration date, depending on humidity and other ambient factors.
How long can we keep the tortillas after opening the package?
It depends on the handling conditions the product was exposed to. If you are not going to consume the whole package after opening it, wash your hands, remove the tortillas you will need and place the remainder in an air tight container. The product should be consumed before 7 days under refrigeration conditions.
What happens to tortillas after their shelf life has expired?
They may grow mold and become dry.
Is it okay to freeze corn tortillas?
Yes, it is okay to freeze corn tortillas. It is very important that you let them thaw in the refrigerator for a day or two before using them. Corn tortillas should not be thawed in the microwave.
